Instructor Training

Admissions Requirements
All students must be free of contagious disease, at least 18 years old, have a High School Diploma or GED, have a current Cosmetology license and a minimum of 2 years salon experience. In addition, all applicants must pass an entrance exam displaying practical skills equal to or greater than current Tennessee School of Beauty undergraduate students.

School Term
To qualify for licensure under Tennessee Cosmetology Law, an Instructor Trainee is required to satisfactorily complete 300 clock hours of training. To accomplish this in the shortest possible time frame, we offer classes Tuesday through Saturday from 8:15 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Those students attending full time can complete the course in 8 weeks. To accommodate those students wishing to take the Instructor Training Course who are presently working in a salon, we can arrange a part-time schedule for you. Our minimum part-time schedule is from 8:15 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday and Wednesday and 8:15 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at least one other day during the week (part-time students may attend more than the schedule shown above, but not less).

Starting Dates
Instructor Trainees may begin their Cosmetology training on the first Tuesday of any month and Esthetics Instructor training begins in January, May, and September. Please note that we will only accept two Instructor Trainees per class.

Employment /Placement Service
Tennessee School of Beauty, nor any other educational institution, cannot GUARANTEE employment as an inducement to your enrolling in the Instructor Training Program. However, students attending Tennessee School of Beauty are assisted in placement through the school’s National Placement Service. Cosmetology school contacts are maintained throughout East Tennessee, as well as throughout the United States. We are glad to assist all of our graduates as many times as necessary throughout their life.
